Kodak has released updated software drivers and firmware for its EasyShare 5100 All-in-One printers. Details of the updates were not available. A Macintosh updater of Kodak EasyShare 5100 and others are also available.
The 4.3-MB firmware update to the 5100, 5300 and 5500 models takes those models to firmware version 71.650829. A Macintosh firmware updater (version 1.0.08) was released simultaneously with the Windows updater.
The 250-MB Windows software update is version 6.3.1. The 54.7-MB Macintosh software update is version 2.0.0.19.
We installed the firmware update on the 5500 model using the Macintosh updater. It's a lengthy process, as the updater warns, which restarts the printer once the firmware has been written to the printer.
We'll report on any functional improvements once we've had a chance to test the new firmware. Our initial test of the automatic document feeder, however, showed no improvement over our previous experience.
