WORDSFest Debuts The Freedom Show

DMG Freedom Productions proudly announces the kickoff celebration of WORDSFest February 7-10, 2008 at Theatre Building Chicago,1225 W. Belmont. Performance times are Thursday-Friday 7:30PM, Saturday 3PM, 7:30PM and 10PM and Sunday at 3PM.

WORDSFest returns to Theatre Building Chicago for one a week festival during African American History month featuring The Freedom Show: One Woman's Story from stage, to prison to freedom and "Not Your Ordinary Words," a collective of solo performances by some of Chicago's diverse performers.

Up to twenty Chicago women voices from the theatre and literary community will take the stage including Tanya Saracho (playwright, Chicago Dramatists) Gina B (columnist, Red Eye), Coya Paz(co-founder, Teatro Luna), Liz Sandoval (LA/Chicago writer) and Tara Betts (NY writer and poet) to name a few, as the opening act to share their original work in classic "Words" style of prose, poetry, music and dance. The featured performance, The Freedom Show, an inspiring story of one woman's journey from victimization to empowerment, is the solo work of Dionna Griffin-Irons, a Second City Detroit alumna and the festival's founder.
