Yellow Moon Hits Citizens' Theatre

TAG's smash hit show Yellow Moon by David Greig is jetting off to New York this spring to be part of the 'Brits off Broadway' festival at 59E59 Theatre in Manhattan. Following a staggering sell out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and two successful runs at the Citizens' Theatre (including 2 extensive school tours), the show about two Fife teenagers on the run also picked up the TMA award for Best Show for Children and Young People in October.

Three Scottish companies will make the Atlantic crossing. Alongside Yellow Moon, Brits Off Broadway will showcase David Greig's other 2007 Edinburgh Festival hit, Damascus by Traverse, and Stellar Quines The Unconquered by Torben Betts ('Best New Play' CATS Awards 2007).

This news follows hot on the heels of Scottish success Blackwatch (NTS), which toured the US earlier this year. Having scooped awards in 5 of the 12 categories at the recent TMA Awards in London, Scottish Theatre is continuing to make its mark in international theatre.

David Greig, writer commented that he is:

"really happy that Yellow Moon will be going to New York. It's been such an amazing journey for this play from performing in Schools, to the festival and now to New York. It's a long way to go for two teenagers from Inverkeithing. In some ways, though, the shows mythology is a Scottish version of the classic American road movie so I'm interested to see what they make of it over there."

Guy Hollands, Director of Yellow Moon said:

"We are very proud to be one of three companies representing Scottish theatre at this festival and
are most grateful to the Scottish Arts Council whose invaluable support has enabled this tour to come
to fruition. We very much look forward to bringing Yellow Moon to New York this spring."

Performance dates are:

Yellow Moon: 22 April – 18 May

The Unconquered: 28 April – 18 May

Damascus: May -- www.citz.co.uk
