Actors Theatre Presents African American Art Exhibitions

Actors Theatre of Louisville celebrates African American art and artists with its 14th annual African American Art Exhibition January 29 through February 23 in the theatre's lobby gallery.

The gallery's popular signature exhibit features an array of 72 works by 34 local and regional artists, ranging from sculpture in various media to unique mixed media collages to evocative paintings and photography. Nine states are represented in the exhibit. Seven artists are from Kentucky.

The juror for this year's exhibit is Kevin Cole of Atlanta, Ga., currently a consultant for The College Board at Savannah College of Art in Atlanta and Chairman of the Visual Arts Magnet Department at Westlake High School. His artwork has been featured in over 400 exhibitions throughout the United States within the last five years.

Claxton (Columbus, Ohio), Abner Cope (Dayton, Ohio), Glendia Cooper (Jacksonville, Fla.), Cedric Michael Cox (Cincinnati, Ohio), Dante (Decatur, Ga.), Clifford Darrett (Dayton, Ohio), Rex Deloney (Little Rock, Ark.), Bud Dorsey (Louisville, Ky.), Ebony Patterson (Lexington, Ky.), Eric Gholston (Louisville, Ky.), Sean C. In conjunction with Downtown Louisville's First Friday Gallery Hop, the theatre will host a reception for the artists with live entertainment and appetizers on February 1 from 5:30 to 9 pm This event is free to the public. -- www.actorstheatre.org
