Performing Original Tunes To Homemade Movies At Exploratorium

Meet local musicians and filmmakers in a special series of “live cinema” programs designed for all ages at the Exploratorium's March Music and Movies Series on March 1, 8 and 15. For these first three Saturdays in March, the Exploratorium highlights a different group of musicians and filmmakers performing original tunes to homemade movies.

This event is included in the price of admission to the Exploratorium. The schedule is as follows:

Saturday, March 1, at 2pm

Hootenanny Hoedown with Melinda Stone and Sam Sharkey in Person!

Round up yer young'ns and high-tail it to the rowdiest variety show this side of the 21st century! Sam and Melinda present a homegrown hootenanny sing-a-long. Take part in musical antics! Witness visual delights! And experience San Francisco's largest kazoo-a-long!

Saturday, March 8th, at 2pm

Experimental Films and Live Music by the Goat Family!

The Goat Family is a social jug band of local filmmakers and friends playing traditional and homemade instruments such as spoons, saws, washboards, gourds, penny whistles, washtub bass, banjo, harmonica, kazoo, and six-string steel guitar. The musicians provide live accompaniment to the films they create.

Saturday, March 15th, at 2pm Live Music & Film Program: Micro-Insect Cinema: Moth & Moon

with Paul Clipson and Jefre Cantu-Ledesma in Person!

Paul Clipson works with super-8 film to capture the lush colors, reflections, and movement of natural landscapes. Experience a "journey into nature, via music, sound and image, within the intimate immensity of a daydream." Accompanied live by Jefre Cantu-Ledesma from Tarentel. -- www.exploratorium.edu
