Syria's foreign minister has praised President Barack Obama's address to the Arab and Islamic world in Turkey.
Also many Arabs were pleased by the Obama’s promises to push for a Palestinian state since he spoke of the Arab-Israeli peace process, saying that he will "actively pursue" the goal of creating a Palestinian state alongside Israel.
On his first visit to a predominantly Islamic nation, Obama reached out to Arabs and Muslims by saying that the United States "is not and never will be at war with Islam."
In an interview published Tuesday, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said Obama's speech "reflects a clear attention toward the two-state solution."
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit praised Obama's remarks as "insightful and credible."
The Obama administration has already expressed its willingness for a dialogue with Syria.
Obama's visit to Turkey has reduced the resentment for US in the region having Muslims and Arabs.
