Storm Moving North Along the East Coast

Drenching Rain in the Southeast Today; Moving up the East Coast on Thursday.

January 16, 2008 -- AccuWeather.com reports low pressure will gather moisture while slowly crossing the Gulf of Mexico today. As it moves toward the central Gulf this evening, it will deliver drenching rain to the dry Southeast, including Atlanta, Ga., and Charleston, S.C. After an extremely dry year, Charleston has only received 0.23 of an inch of precipitation so far this month. This is only 12 percent of the month's typical precipitation.

As the storm approaches its track up the East Coast on Thursday, mild air will surge to the north of it, allowing rain along the I-95 corridor. Meanwhile, colder air will remain over the western Carolinas to eastern Tennessee creating an icy mess. By Thursday evening, even Washington, D.C., could get some ice.

Boston will miss out on wintry weather this time. Snow will likely fall along the southeastern New England coast; however, the interior could have some more snow. The storm will impact New Hampshire to Maine the most, although it will not be significant in comparison to Monday's nor'easter. - Source By Accuweather.com
