Vilma and William were the most popular names for new born babies in Sweden for 2007.
According to Berit Sandnes, a Namn Researcher at Lund University the reason for this was that people wanted to have unique names for their children.
Even though Vilma and William were the most popular names they are still far away from the top with William ranked 77 in the country and Vilma not making it into the top 100.
Overall the top names for girls in Sweden are Maria, Anna and Magareta whilst Erik, Karl and Lars remain at the top for boys. The year before the most popular name for new born baby girls was Emma.- Source: By SRI News
