A popular activity in Sweden is fishing, but it seems the hobbyists have overtaken the professionals when it comes to bringing money to Sweden’s economy.
According to a report by the Swedish Board of Fisheries, the tourism and leisure fishing industry is worth ten times more economically than the professional fishing trade.
The area to make the most from leisure fishing was Jämtland in northern Sweden where 20 million US dollars were made last year.
The report added that fishing tourism could increase further if more fish were protected from the profession trawlers.- Source: By Sveriges Radio
