In more news from the Swedish wilderness, January brings the first mushrooms of the year to the country’s woods.
According to Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter, the mild winter Sweden has been experiencing means many varieties of mushrooms that would normally not be seen until the early spring are showing their heads already.
Vinterskivling mushrooms or velvet stemmed agarics, as they are called in English, usually grow in March and April, but now mushrooms pickers are walking away with three or four litres of them.
Depending on the climate, experts believe it may become more usual to see mushrooms at this time of year in Sweden in the future. - Source: By Sveriges Radio
