WTO investigates Aust ban on NZ apples

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has launched an investigation into Australia's decision to ban New Zealand apple imports.

New Zealand says Australia's sanitary regulations on apples are not scientifically sound and violate world trade rules.

Australian officials have given conditional approval to New Zealand growers but have delayed signing off on the trade, saying there is a risk the imports could contain the plant disease fireblight.
