(HARRIS, Michigan) – The Island Resort & Casino – home to the much-anticipated Sweetgrass Golf Club – today announces several national touring acts will perform in 2008. Officials at the resort announce the return engagement of celebrated country superstar Randy Travis, the Volunteer Jam Tour featuring the Charlie Daniels Band, .38 Special and Shooter Jennings; chart-climbing country star Phil Vassar; and the iconic Beach Boys.

In addition to the 1,327-seat Island Showroom that will host these acts, the resort recently introduced the luxurious Palm Tower that adds 162 spacious, well-appointed rooms and luxurious penthouse suites to the existing Sun Tower’s 113 rooms, expanded the gaming floor with an additional 500 slot machines and opened Club Four One nightclub and the Beachcomber Restaurant & Bar.

The best is yet to come at the Island Resort & Casino, however, as the Paul Albanese-designed Sweetgrass Golf Club is scheduled to be unveiled this summer. Named after an aromatic herb used in Indian peace and healing rituals and found along the course, Sweetgrass features five sets of tees and ranges between 5,000 and 7,300 yards.

The championship course features an island green, a pair of majestic waterfalls and will pay homage to Potawatomi tribal legend on each hole. An “eternal flame” between the first and 10th tees will pay homage to the tribe, known as the Keepers of the Fire.
