VEGA to support MoD networking capability

VEGA has joined the General Dynamics UK LISTENER team to support Network Enabled Capability (NEC). VEGA will be conducting a ten-month assessment phase focused on defining the LISTENER system solution, thereby reducing risk in preparation for full development.

25 January 2008 – VEGA Group PLC (VEGA), the specialist Professional Services Company, is pleased to announce that it is part of the General Dynamics UK LISTENER team that has been selected by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) as a preferred bidder for the LISTENER Assessment Phase.

LISTENER is a pioneering project in the delivery of UK Network Enabled Capability (NEC). The project will network several UK ISTAR systems with US / NATO allies and automatically fuse sensor data in order to rapidly create actionable intelligence for commanders.

Under contract to General Dynamics UK (GD UK), VEGA and the other four sub-contractors will be conducting a ten-month assessment phase focused on defining the system solution, thereby reducing risk in preparation for full development.

VEGA , as the training lead, will undertake an analysis of the training need to support the LISTENER capability. The will include the requirements for both individual and collective training. Collective training modelling and analysis will ensure that LISTENER’s training requirements, as part of the complex NEC environment, are met and help ensure that the GD UK Team meets the MoD Architectural Framework (MoDAF) modelling requirements,

VEGA's Business Development Director for Government and Defence, Peter Armstrong, said: “We are delighted to be supporting such a critical project on the UK NEC agenda. I’m confident that our training expertise, along with our experience and knowledge of MODAF, ISSE and information security, will provide the MoD with the quality of service it demands.”
