I have heard very good remarks on the presentation and I would desire to listen in.
I had a very similar experience. Heard about the book and web class on Oprah's show but never visited her site before. Something inside me just told me I needed to do this. So I logged on and signed up. There's an excitement and anticpation of something importanr about to happen. Looking forward to being a participant.
Beware!! Anyone who thinks this horse manure is Christian needs to dust off his Bible and actually read it!!! This is the spewing of a counterfeit religion headed by the coming Antichrist with the spirit of Satan called the New Age Movement. The only way to salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Do not let false prophets and their lying philosophies lead you to Hell!!!
I find the response of the extremely religions (re: brainwashed) typical of those that are afraid of anything that might challenge their beliefs. They can spout the scripture even though could not explain what it really means. The Christian community has spend centuries trying to bury (literally) anyone who would disagree with their chosen line of thinking. Inability to be flexible enough to consider other points of view (Islam, Bhudism, Tao, Shinto, athiesm, etc.) points to the 'us vs them' mentality ending in a "Christian" war. If this Christianity was so wonderful, why does it have go to war to prove itself? So I dismiss these religious zealots as war mongers and nothing else. Enlightenment allows other points of view to exist. No one has to be right or wrong, just there.
It's funny that we demand truth in nearly every area of our lives: We demand it from our doctor, our banker, our friends -- this list goes on and on. Yet in the area it matters most, our spirituality, we back off and say, "There is no truth" or "There are many truths." But someone has to be wrong! One person says "Jesus died to save us, and he is the way to God." Another says, "Follow Buddha to enlightenment." Well, how can they both be true!! I don't believe God ever meant Christianity to be just another religion. I believe he meant it to be accepted as the truth. Yes, there are bad Christians who give Christ a bad name. (Just as there are bad Hindus, Buddhists, etc.) That breaks my heart. Then again, it's just more reason to believe we all need a Savior. As a very new Christian who resisted Christ for 43 years, I now know that I am going with the guy who was raised from the dead. And anyone who steers us away from the only one who can really save us (Oprah or anyone else) isn't doing the world any favors at all. In fact they are leading others to death. Christ is Life. Everything else is shifting sand. Everything.

I have difficulty reading, although I am a college graduate.
I have always had trouble with the letters moving around on the pirnted page, and changing shape.
Is the new earth book on tape adn how can i get a copy of the tape or compact disk?

I watched Oprah`s show yesterday twice, at different times. I am very anxious to participate in this , I have read Eckhart Tolles other book Stillness Speaks. Enjoyed it throughly. I wish it could be sooner I am so anxious and looking forward to this project. This is my first time to enter in anything like this. Thanks so much I feel this will help a lot of people myself included.

i would like your help in understanding this book
Precious Lady, this book is a slap in the face of the great God of the universe. It leaves Him out as the source of our life, and credits man for his sucess. It is by the help of an all powerful God that we move and breathe, and have our focus. The countries who deny the true God are in great confusion, worshipping trees, cows, stones, and all sorts of images. Tnis is the direction in which you are sending civilazion with the study that leaves Him out. To me, the greatest deception in the book is the idea that there is no heaven, that we have heaven within us. It would be to the good of all to teach the scriptures as they are. The reason we are as confused as we are is that every one has added or taken away a bit of truth here and there so that we don't recognize what is the simple truth. I love you, and hope you will consider this thought.

Joe, I just wanted to say thank you for restoring my faith in people. I can not believ e how lost and gulible people are. Just because Oprah says it is ok they abandon all clear thought and deny the truth of Christ. This is what the Lord said when He talked about being deceived . Thanks for thinking this book through. I was just sure the whole world was totally mindless and just a product of Oprah Winfreys latest new age
gunk. It must be hard to be her and to keep up on the latest trend but to do this mind junk on people is so wrong. We just need to pray for her.
I pray God will open you Oprah's eyes to what she is doing. She leading our World to the devil. The world has enought problems with out you adding to them. I pray people will speak out to their churches and tell how you are lost ,so that you will see the MERCY & GRACE of our LORD JESUS Christ the Salvation of the WORLD.
First of all, I have not read the book,so don't say that the book may have changed my opinion.(I only have a genarel idea, but a specific one)You are not one to say that civilization has gone into confusion. Has it become worse? Maybe. But you should not denounce people the way you are doing it. I'm geussing that you are christian, and that is not why I am not mad. It is because to me you seem like one of those hippocritical christians that take cover and make themselves seem that they are good because of the religion. What people sometimes don't notice is that while the religion may be holy and perfect, that doesn't mean the people who worship it are. Also what gets me mad is that you seem to read the bible and go to mass,but you don't carry out what was taught, which is the whole point. You make people who worship something else seem inferior, and make your religion seem the best. Don't forget that Jesus was a modest and humble person, he never made himself seem better on purpose like you have. And the whole point of religion is normally to carry out the actions of peace they give, not to make them seem better than others. If you think I am wrong, then "enlighten" me with what were my mistakes.
Jesus was humble and selfless which makes his words all the more significant when he said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by Me." Jesus states that He is the only way to God. Now what are you going to say about Him?

His Book tells me so and His Book is the longest lasting, most published book in the world and that is good enough for me. Thank again

I have to AGREE with Joe. I have done too much studying of the cults-When we start becoming our own little god then I feel life is worthless. Look how our country fell apart after prayer was taken out of the schools. Joe we don't need to worry about the other countries---we right here are doing the same thing and people are saying it is ok.

First off you always use a capital "G" for God.Prayer can not be taken out off the schools if you want to pray you may a teacher just can't lead you in prayer. If you feel that the country fell apart then you need to step up and do what you can if you are truly one who cares Bill
Thank you for your comments Joe. They were truly amazing. Oprah has been a role-model to me for most of my life and I hate to say it but after this book, I am very disappointed. I am just reminded that every human makes mistakes and popularizing this book is a mistake. It is good to know that there are still real Christians in this world that believe in the one and only God! God is so amazing and I want to always dedicate my life to him and know that he is my source of strength! Thank you for the insight! This book does not follow the Holy Bible and as Christians we are asked to read and study the Bible. It is part of being a Christian. We cannot get off track because the "world" tells us to.
Though I am an atheist, I still consider my personal growth as an important part of my life. I look forward to reading and studying the book, along with others. I am a humanist, and anything which will help me grow and learn, is a positive thing, and I am open to learning from others, even if those ppl are theists.
Brandi, I hope you will consider reading the Bible in your quest for personal growth. I am a very intelligent college graduate who has read many books and done plenty of research in my time on this planet. No other book can compare if you are looking for answers to life and the world that surronds us. Anyone who has taken the time to read and study the Bible would have a hard time arguing against its value.
I just finished the book and found it too confusing. Tolle starts out saying it is not a religious book but it obviously is based on Buddhism, so a background in that or at least a basic understanding of Buddhism might have helped me. I guess my main problem is that you can only become the person he describes if you shut yourself off from life completely and live cloistered in a monastery. And probably my biggest obstacle to the book is my belief in just the opposite of his thinking that only the Now exists, not the past or future. I believe that the present does not exist, everything is either past or future. When is now? This hour, this minute, this second? It is over before you realize it existed, time goes directly from future to past.
I am really looking forward to this too.

I for one think this is awful. I am a christian woman who believes in the one true God, who spoke this earth into being. I believe that the Bible is the true inspired word of God. If you read your Bible, you will know that this mans ideas
are very wrong. There is a heaven and there is a hell. God does still perform miracles, I for one am a living breathing miracle of God. Had it not been for sincere prayer from all over this country, and a very Loving family who truly believes in the power of the Most High God and the power of prayer. God is listening, but people today want an instant God. Take the time to humble yourself before him and talk to him as if you are talking to a loved one, he listens and he does answer in his time. The Bible says to trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direst your paths. Even with all the ups and downs every day, especially when times are hard, I look to Jesus, he is my strength and my joy. I hope he will be yours also.

What is more important is to make the world a better place. To get along with each other. That was the main thing Jesus wanted us to learn. Even if you are Atheist, you can learn from this too, for it is an important lesson, and yet the one that is least spoken of because people are to busy preaching and trying to make thier religion the best. Instead, take the action of what was taught and amke the world a better place instead of trying to make your religion seem better.
I think this is a wonderful way to enlighten millions of people. People who might never have had a chance of becoming better. God sends messengers for us and if we pay attention we can grow. Too many people are so closed minded you can't tell them anything. That is so sad. This book is not telling you to close your mind to God, but instead helping you to enlighten your path to God. It is close minded remarks like this that have ALWAYS turned me away from religion of any kind! How are people going to feel like Christianity and Faith in God is going to bring them " PEACE " and HARMONY with negative, extremist remarks like this ?? In my own opinion, remarks like this just make the entire christian outlook & philosophy look crazy and very un-inviting ! I know it may seem easier to listen and to look for another human being for answers but that is not the way. Be not decieved, if you believe in God read your Bible and see if the mans teaching or Osho's teaching are correct according the Word of God. Everyone wants a microwave change, but the microwave can destroy your life.
If you want inspiration read the book "The tipping point" by Malcom it is not a religous book but a book of inspiration that lets you see and know that little things of change affect the big picture.

I like all of the energy that this selection is creating: allowing some of us to "think outside of the box" and "discover" for ourselves what is really real to us and perhaps, how we can better analyze this "realism". As you all know, Oprah is a brave, strong and courageous woman...who is a poineer in her own right. Let's not be confused by the messager but instead remain focus on the message and that's each of us who is willing and caring enough make a difference in the world in which we live.
All these comments are fascinating. I am a Christian, like many who've commented. I also admire Oprah's great works around the world helping those in need and making us aware of needs out there we would never have heard about otherwise. We who call ourselves "Christian" could learn a lot from her. However, I can admire what she does, without agreeing with all her "teachings". What breaks my heart, is the way we Christians present ourselves in condemning a book. PLEASE, THINK twice about what you say before you put it out there. Non-Christians are seeing/hearing hatred or fear in the words of many Christians. That's just not how Jesus would do it. If I didn't know the Love of Jesus for myself, I certainly wouldn't seek Him based on some of the comments I've read. Kudos to those who did express His genuine Love!!!
I have to say to one comment that "Jesus came to make the world a better place", that He's SO much More than that. "I came that they might have Life and that More Abundantly." That Life is IN HIM, His PERSON, not just His words. He was not just a nice teacher teaching nice words. He was a radical of His day. He said "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life." I challenge us all whether we read "A New Earth" or not to search the Scriptures for ourselves and find out what Jesus says it means to be a Christian, not just what the rest of us think.
This book was a struggle for numerous reasons and none religious. First, Tolle spends most of his time of defining the "problem(s)." and precious few words and thoughts on the "solution. Second, ironic that he chooses words which produce thoughts to get us to think about thoughts. As a yoga practiconer and a long-time member of a 12-step program which is spiritually based, my experiences shows that you can act your wan into right thinking, but you cannot think your way into right action.
It's wonderful people are talking about the challenges presented here, in becoming "conscious," and I do hope that talk leads to right action.

I WATCHED THE OPRAH SHOW YESTERDAY AS OPRAH INVITED PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE IN HER NEW CLASS ON ECKHART TOLLE'S NEW BOOK. I KNEW THAT GOD WOULD GUIDE ME TO REACH MY FULLEST POTENTIAL THIS YEAR AS, I HAVE NEVER PARTICIPATED IN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE AND HAVE NEVER EVEN GONE TO OPRAH.COM, EVEN THOUGH SHE IS MY FAVORITE TALK SHOW HOST.
I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO PARTICIPATING IN THIS CLASS.
