JVC Highlights New Technologies

Demonstrates Developments in Display, Audio and Camcorder Technologies

JVC

During the International Consumer Electronics Show here, JVC is demonstrating several new technologies that provide a look into the future of consumer electronics. The company is demonstrating developments and concepts in display, camcorder and audio technologies that JVC is exploring for possible future production.

110-Inch HD-ILA Rear Projection TV
JVC has built a prototype 110-inch rear projection TV using the company's HD-ILA technology. The full HD set, like currently available HD-ILA televisions, uses three 0.7-inch 1920x1080 pixel full HD D-ILA (LCOS) devices. Power consumption is a green 230 watts.

120Hz Clear Motion Drive
JVC introduced its 120Hz Clear Motion Drive LCD TV technology last year in a 720p set. The company has since applied the technology to full HD displays. Clear Motion Drive uses a frame doubling driver and a motion interpolation technique to boost LCD image quality, improving resolution, motion detection and color.

32-Inch Super Slim LCD TV
This concept is an LCD TV that measures just over one-inch deep (1-2/5 inches) with a very thin frame for a TV that virtually disappears, leaving just the image. The set weighs a mere 17.6 pounds.

37-Inch LED Backlight LCD
An LED light source offers several advantages - long life, durability, quick start-up and stable operation. Compared to a conventional CCFL light source, LEDs also offer vivid color reproduction and faster response, especially when combined with JVC's 120Hz Clear Motion Drive technology.

LED HD-ILA
Replacing the current high-pressure mercury lamp in JVC's rear projection HD-ILA televisions with LEDs would provide quick start and extremely long product life. The wide color range allows for flexible color management. Combined with the latest wire grid-based optical engine and latest D-ILA devices, it achieves a startlingly high contrast ratio.

Cinema Wide HD-ILA
With an aspect ratio of 2.35:1, JVC's prototype Cinema Wide HD-ILA offers enhanced viewing of DVDs and high definition movies. Most widescreen movies are distributed in this 2.35:1 aspect ratio, while current widescreen TVs have a 16:9 (approx. 1.78:1) aspect ratio. JVC's Cinema Wide HD-ILA displays 2.35:1 content properly without letterboxing.

CD/DVD Changer
High-style 3.6-foot tall high-capacity DVD/CD changer that can handle up to 250 discs, including Blu-ray discs.

Pulsating Sphere Speaker
Enjoy a natural sound field as if there were no speakers. JVC's four-inch diameter "Pulsating Sphere" 12-sided speaker delivers the same frequency characteristics in every direction to faithfully reproduce the original sound source regardless of listening position.

Concept Peripherals for JVC Everio Hard Drive Camcorders

Compact Everio Projector
A tiny, portable video projector for enjoying video shot with JVC's Everio camcorder, with a direct connection from camcorder to projector.

Everio Mobile Screen
Small, portable LCD screen with built-in hard drive for playback of camcorder footage and digital stills. It also makes file transfer and copying more convenient.

Private Everio Content Server
A hard disk drive for storing Everio footage and other digital files.

Everio System MiniDV Deck
