International communications firm launch bursary fund

International communications firm Cubitt Consulting are launching a new bursary scheme to help underprivileged students at Jesus College.

The fund is open to first year undergraduates studying English or History at the College.

The firm will make significant contributions to living costs for the duration of the three year course at Cambridge and will also offer an opportunity for internship during University vacations.

The award will be made every three years and is at the discretion of the Fellows of the College.

The Cubitt Consulting bursary will be open to applications from the 2008/09 academic year alongside the University bursary scheme already in operation.

Simon Brocklebank-Fowler, Managing Partner of Cubitt Consulting, said: "We are delighted to offer this bursary, which we expect will make a meaningful difference to maintaining the widest possible access to one of the world's greatest universities.

Cubitt Consulting is an international communications consultancy specialising in corporate and investor sectors with clients including Fiat, Royal Bank of Scotland and ING.

Jesus College also makes grants, subject to availability, to research students to help with the costs of fieldwork or attendance at conferences. It offers two David M Livingstone (Australia) Scholarships and a Raymond and Helen Kwok Research Scholarship each year. It also participates in the Domestic Research Studentship Scheme, and appoints at least one Research Fellow each year.
