The Morello MOSS Connector from Mediasurface allows General Teaching Council (GTC) to upload approved information onto its website faster and more easily, allowing GTC To provide enhanced support to the teaching profession

05 February 2008 – Mediasurface (UK, AIM: MSR), Europe’s leading content management provider and developer of the Morello web content management (WCM) solution today announced that GTC has committed to a major upgrade to add new features and functionality to its website. The agreement follows an initial contract win to provide the GTC with an integrated website which allowed over half a million teachers, LEAs and members of the wider education community easier access to important information on policy and standards within teaching. Under the new agreement, Mediasurface will provide the GTC with a package that includes the MOSS Connector, Google Appliance Plug-In and Page Studio through the Morello Web Client to further facilitate key access to information for members of the teaching community.

The new features include;

Morello MOSS 2007 Connector – this allows business users at GTC to add existing back-office content, stored in SharePoint, to their website through the Morello application thereby ensuring that the re-use, updating and management of valuable content is optimised

Morello Page Studio - GTC users will be able to control the layout of their pages as well as the content with Page Studio. This unique feature enables non-technical users to design their own web pages by amending templates, in accordance with the company brand guidelines, moving them away from an over-standardised one size-fits all design

Morello Google Appliance Plug-In – this capability enhances GTC’s corporate search strategy by exposing Morello stored content - including all the contextual metadata - to the Google Search Appliance thereby ensuring that highly relevant search results are consistently delivered to end users of the site

The Morello Web Client – the browser-based version of Morello that delivers a highly intuitive, graphical interface enabling non-technical contributors at GTC to quickly and easily manage their content through a web-browser

Romina Ahmad, Website Manager for GTC commented, “Morello has enabled us to take control of our website and manage this important resource ourselves. The new features will enable us to grow to meet the increasing requirements and expectations of teachers and stakeholders. It is imperative in this fast moving online world to deliver information accurately and on-time and Morello gives us this flexibility. With the MOSS and Google appliances our users will be able to better identify and use relevant content whilst Page Studio gives us even more control and flexibility over our website, all without having to harass IT.”

Andy Peart, Chief Marketing Officer, Mediasurface added further, “GTC is an important customer for us and we are delighted that they have signed up for the Morello MOSS Connector and other new Morello features. These developments clearly illustrate Mediasurface’s ongoing commitment to developing innovative technological solutions that meet the needs of our clients.”
