More Swedes Undergo Anti-Fat Surgeries

As Svenska Dagbladet reports, more than 2,400 patients are expected to receive gastric surgery this year. The report quotes experts as saying that at least 10,000 surgeries are necessary every year in order to fight increasing obesity in Sweden.

In 2004, the Stockholm county council passed a plan to bisect the number of people suffering from obesity by 2013 – an intention unlikely to live up to, according to the evaluation of doctors.
