On February 14th, 2008, from 6-8:30 pm, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum hosts its 2nd annual Venetian Valentine evening event, capturing the magic and romance of a bygone era of entertaining. Guests will enjoy an assortment of tempting cocktails, delectable hors d'oeuvres and decadent desserts; live jazz from the flowering courtyard; a poety-infused "Art of Romance" tour of the galleries; and the incredible chance to spend Valentine's night in Boston's only Venetian palace! It's a particularly romantic and unique way to delight your Valentine or spend a stylish night with friends.
The evening will begin with romantic jazz standards – like My Funny Valentine – sung from the courtyard garden. Throughout the evening, the Gardner Museum's three floors of galleries, filled with masterworks by Raphael, Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Titian and others, will be open for an intimate stroll through 30 centuries worth of great art. A special "Art of Romance" tour will direct visitors to some of Isabella Gardner's more romantic pieces, paired with poetry.
All the traditional culinary trappings of the holiday – champagne, oysters, truffles and chocolate-dipped strawberries – will be offered, and guests will enjoy an open bar as well as passed hors d'oeuvres and a light buffet to keep their stomachs as full as their hearts. 7News' own Frances Rivera will also make an appearance. And at the end of the evening, each guest will receive a free gift bag filled with romantic mementos and decadent special offers to keep the romance alive year-round – including a discount for a massage at exhale mind body spa, delectable chocolates, and more. -- www.gardnermuseum.org
