Tropical Storm Watch issued for Hawaii's Big Island

The latest advisory is in from the Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) and Felecia is still maintaining hurricane strength despite unfavorable conditions. The latest weather discussion, and weather models indicate that Felecia will likely be stronger than expected when it reaches Hawaii.

According to the CPHC Tropical discussion on Felecia there is a, "60 percent chance of Felecia being a tropical storm in 48 hours when it is very near the Hawaiian islands". Otherwise the report states a 25 percent chance it will be a tropical depression, and a 10 percent chance it will be a hurricane.

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the big island of Hawaii meaning that tropical storm conditions are possible within 48 hours. All interests in Hawaii should continue to monitor this storm as it slowly churns toward Hawaii.
