The Fulton's Eichmann Family Theatre Series continues in February with a remounted production of last season's Macbeth: blood in - blood out. This modern twist on a Shakespeare classic enthralled adults and introduced a new generation of theatregoers to the greatest writer in the English language. Hailed as "...an original, streetwise retelling of the classic tragedy 'Macbeth'" (New Era, 2007), Macbeth will be at the Fulton on February 22nd & 23rd in the 4th Floor Studio Theatre.

Barry Kornhauser, Director of Fulton Family Theatre, is thrilled to bring this successful production back to Fulton audiences, "This 50-minute Macbeth has been designed to make the Bard as accessible as possible to young audiences, most of whom have few opportunities to experience high-quality presentations of Shakespeare."

Macbeth uses a combination of Shakespeare's original text and contemporary street language to tell the tale of a power hungry king whose decision to exploit others leads to his own destruction. This revamped tale incorporates exciting elements into the production such as a narrator/DJ character that spins live contemporary techno-rave music, and Project Runway influenced costumes created from fragments of previous Fulton show attire, pieced together to create a modernized Elizabethan appearance.

"Macbeth has particular resonances in our contemporary American culture, and engaging its great poetry in a dramatic setting is one of the most important means of learning we can provide our youth," Kornhauser points out. "Such experiences can impact their lives, not only by improving their language skills, but awakening self-understanding and empathy for others, and helping them to examine the ethical standards of our own culture."

Adapted by Charlie DelMarcelle in conjunction with students from Lancaster's La Academia Charter School, Macbeth: blood in, blood out is devised specifically for tweens and teens. This show explores the importance of supreme ambition and the notion that today's society rewards the "Alpha Dog"--even if he must forsake close friends and eventually, his own soul, to reach that superior status.

The acting ensemble for Macbeth: blood in - blood out is Charlie DelMarcelle (New Kid, Noodle Doodle Box) and Andrew Kindig (Crazy for You, Grease) playing multiple roles, Brian Martin (Dracula, The Mousetrap) as Macbeth, Yolanda London playing the narrator, and StephanieJo Wise (Into the Woods, Oliver!) as Lady Macbeth.

The design and artistic team for Macbeth: blood in - blood out is Director Charlie DelMarcelle, Set and Prop Designer Christopher James Weddle, Costume Designer Anthony Lascoskie, Jr., and Sound Designer Andy Hartley. The Company Stage Manager is Julie Bunnell.

Performance dates for Macbeth: blood in - blood out are February 22 at 7PM & February 23 at 1PM and 7PM in the Studio Theatre located on the 4th floor of the Fulton Theatre. The production is also on tour for the region through April 15th. -- www.atthefulton.org
