Former President George H.W. Bush, the father of the current president, is expected to endorse the veteran Arizona lawmaker at an event in Houston, Texas. Last week, McCain was endorsed by former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who had dropped out of the race for the party's nomination.
McCain is hoping to win over some of his conservative critics, who feel he is out of step with their views on issues such as immigration, tax policy and campaign reform.
Among the Democratic Party candidates, Illinois Senator Barack Obama is looking to continue a winning streak over New York Senator Hillary Clinton in races Tuesday in Wisconsin and Hawaii. But Clinton hopes to reverse the recent string of losses in contests March fourth in Texas and Ohio.
On Sunday, Obama sought the support of former candidate John Edwards, flying to the former senator's North Carolina home for a visit.
Edwards, who has not announced any endorsement, was running third among the Democrats and dropped out of the race last month.
