Obama says he and Patrick - a good friend - share ideas all the time. Patrick says he is not upset at all, and the Obama team point to Hillary and McCain both using his "fired up and ready to go" line recently.
Pressed on the matter, Obama said that Patrick "suggested that we use these lines…I thought they were good lines. I’m sure I should have [given him credit], I didn’t this time.”
In an article published in today's daily Kos regarding to the Obama plagiarism issue the author writes " Hillary's plagiarism attack is a new low, even for her. I apologize if this is repetitive, but I think it adds new info. It at least hasn't been on the recommended diaries and I, for one, think it should be. First off, the plagiarism attack is 100% Rovian on it's face: take something that is a strenfth of your opponent, and wail on it.
Second It's also disingenuous: If the sentiment that Obama expressed was plagiarism, then, so too, must be David Letterman's series "Great Moments in presidential speeches" more or less. The idea is the same.
Here's the alleged Obama Plagarism video:

Wow. So like, if a politician can speak, they're Hitler? You're an idiot. Go read a book about German history and get back to us.
Proof That Hillary Does The Same Thing
She talked about goals "I hope will bring our country together," a la Barack Obama.
In response to a question about excessive partisanship, she talked about how she's not running to be president of the states that voted for Democrats, she's running to be president of the United States. This closely resembles Obama's "I don’t want to pit red America against blue America. I want to be the President of the United States of America."
She said she didn't want to be part of the first generation of Americans that didn't leave the country better off than when they inherited it, which recalls John Edwards's line about how we don't want to be the first generation of Americans whose children do worse in life than they did.
She talked about how, if video stores can keep track of their tapes and DVDs, surely we can keep track of people here on visas, many of whom overstay them and become illegal immigrants. I've heard Edwards make the same point, except he explicitly cites Blockbuster.
She argued that our young men and women in Iraq are doing everything we ask of them; it's the Bush administration and the Iraqi government who are letting them down. Edwards has argued that our soldiers have done everything we've asked of them; it's our government that's letting them down.
Finally, she made the point that opposing comprehensive immigration reform is tantamount to supporting amnesty, because it allows the present situation to continue. I've heard John McCain make the same point. (At least I think it was him--it's possible that it was some other non-Hillary candidate.)
While I can appreciate your point that Hilary makes many of the same SORT of statements- which is essentially the case for members in any common party, since by definition they support largely the same sorts of legislative material (i.e. Democrats support democratic measures)- it is a far different thing to copy, use, and claim as one's own intellectual property, word for word, material used by someone else while giving no credit.
It is funny to think that, in an academic career, such a speech would merit immediate charges of plagiarism since he gave no credit. If one does that in an academic setting and merely says, "Ooops- my bad," which is largely the case for the Obama campaign right now- it would not be acceptable. Instead, people choose to target the people who brought such academic lack of integrity to light. Sad day for America. Hilary may support similar legislation- both she and Obama have very similar stances on a wide range of issues- and even cite similar material in her campaign. But, and again the chief difference is, she uses her OWN words to say as much- not relying on material already written, spoken, and used by another.
If Obama really supports education as he says he does, he should be ashamed. I know it insults me, both as a member of the academic community and the United States itself.
Elizabeth Edwards on Obama:
In the Aug. issue of Progressive magazine Elizabeth Edwards goes so far as to call Obama an outright copycat, accusing him of "lifting her husband's best lines." E. Edwards: "You listen to the language of what people say, particularly Obama, who seems to be using a lot of John's 2004 language, which is maybe not surprising since one of his speechwriters was one of our speechwriters, his media guy was our media guy. These people know John's mantra as well as anybody could know it. They've moved from 'hope is on the way' to 'the audacity of hope.' I'm constantly hearing things in a familiar tone."
... ... Edwards: "We are not the party of Washington insiders. We are the party of the people, and so from this day forward we say no -- no forever to the money from Washington lobbyists."
The only difference -- Obama beat him to it that day, towing the same anti-lobbyist line at an earlier event that day in central Iowa. Obama: "We've got to have a president in the White House who sets bold targets and sets broad goals and isn't intimidated by the barriers and the roadblocks and isn't driven by those who already have an investment in the status quo - somebody who can overcome the lobby-driven, divisive politics that characterizes this issue."
Meanwhile, back at the labor forum, Obama used another token Edwardian statement: "We need a president…who is not afraid to mention unions."
I think this case of Obama copy cat plagiarism proves not only that he isn't about substantive issues, but apparently he's not even about good speeches either... or at least not his own! Borrowing one line is one thing, but lifting an entire speech shows a lack of creativity, not to mention that it speaks to the ethical issue of outright stealing. It's about character, and apparently he doesn't have enough to either avoid "borrowing" other people's thoughts, ideas or even verbatim words and furthermore it proves a lack of forethought to not realize that this would be revealed (and ultimately catch up with him) in the days of Youtube and the Internet! We need a smarter president than that!
The claim of plagarism is just a smoke screen for the fact that none of the other candidates can generate the type of enthusiasm Obama can generate. Candidates within the same party use each others talking points all the time. That is all that happened in this situation.
Obama graduated from Harvard Law, where he was chosen to head the Law Review. He is the smartest person on the campaign scene. You will have to do a lot better than this petty accusation to derail his race for the nomination.
Is this the Hillary Clinton who provoked great criticism in for not acknowledging her co-writer Barbara Feinman in "It Takes a Village to Raise a Child"?
It is well known that MLK's "I have a dream speech" largely uses themes from Rev. Archibald Carey's 1952 Republican Convention adress. Is the Hillary Clinton campaign outraged about that?
This is a non-story, a transparent and desperate attempt to distract voters.
OMG THIS OBAMA GUY IS SUCH A FAKE.
He is now defending plagiarism by telling poeple that he only sheated his willingfriend?
IT IS STILL PALAGIARISM! GET IT?
Its still cheating.
WHAT A LOSER!
If this is the best anyone can do to slander this candidate, then they are desperate. In the course (OMG I just plagiarised) of speaking to the public, catch phrases are commonly used. I use quite frequently Say it loud, I'm Black and I'm proud,(James Brown) power to the people,(Angela Davis, Huey Newton), that's just a sham (Frederick Douglas), "I will bless the Lord at all times" (King David). Get real!
Why not talk about relevant quotes. When Bilary thought she was a lock. This is how she felt about Michigan....

CONCORD, N.H. -- Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton said it would be foolish to take her name off Michigan's primary ballot and sacrifice her chances against the Republican nominee.
As the only top tier Democrat remaining on Michigan ballot, Clinton is all but guaranteed to win the state's primary. Michigan is tentatively slated to send 156 delegates to the 2008 Democratic National Convention, but national party officials have threatened to take away those delegates if the state persists in holding its primary on Jan. 15.
"It's clear, this election they're having is not going to count for anything," Clinton said Thursday during an interview on New Hampshire Public Radio's call-in program, "The Exchange."
Show how hypocritical Hillary is by tracking her "plagiarisms" at http://www.hillaryplagiarism.com
From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Jan. 11, 2008
"Indeed, Mrs. Clinton made some of the same arguments Sunday in New Hampshire when she defended her earnest speaking style by saying, in an indirect reference to Mr. Obama, "you campaign in poetry, you govern in prose."
That particular political maxim was first uttered in a 1985 speech at Yale University-- by [former New York governor Mario] Cuomo.
"She didn't attribute it to me, although it's in Bartlett's Quotations and they did," the former governor said, laughing."

Hillary, you throw mud, you get dirty.
It's funny that the guy he plagiarized it from is a thief who spent $11,000 of tax payer money for new drapes in his house. It doesn't get better than that. Stealing from a thief. If Obama is elected the U.S. will quickly descend into being a Zimbabwe like third world country. But all the white guys and gals who are now supporting him like a crazed Nazi mob could care less. Why? They have the thing they've always desired: a black friend. They should all pat themselves on the back for being better than the rest of us, above it all, and most of all Holier than Thou. Goodbye USA Hello Zimbabwe.
Obama plagiarizing Hitler
I’m wondering if Obama will give credit to Hitler since he stole whole paragraphs from some of his speeches. Here are 4 examples
