The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik pay tribute to the music of Motown with the talented R&B vocal group, Spectrum on Friday & Saturday, February 22nd & 23rd, at the Orpheum.
Spectrum has developed the versatility to cover the music of groups from the Platters to the Temptations. The group contains four incredible singers, each with the voice of a solo artist, who combine their voices and dexterity to create angelic harmonies and deft choreography that have become trademarks of Spectrum.
The members of Spectrum consist of silky smooth recording artist Darryl Grant of Oakland, California, Chicago-born musician and versatile entertainer Pierre Jovan, David Prescott, the soaring-voiced first tenor from Rochester, New York and lastly, singer, actor and group founder Cushney Roberts, who left the life of a Princeton-educated corporate engineer, and cut his teeth in the casino lounges en route to becoming a well-respected Las Vegas showroom entertainer. This is certainly a group of college-educated, world-traveled veterans of the entertainment business, who will rock the Orpheum over two nights in the London Drugs VSO Pops series!
Their symphony program will contain the classic hits of Motown and R&B, enhanced by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, four brilliant voices, angelic harmonies, snazzy costuming, and exciting choreography. This show provides an exhilarating evening of the music that defined a generation. -- www.vancouversymphony.ca
