Swedish forestry workers in the southern part of the country have cancelled operations in some areas - because the unseasonably warm weather has left the ground too soft for the heavy machines.

Workers say the cancellation is costing them badly-needed income - but that the risk of damaging the forest floor is too high.

Meanwhile, meterological experts here conclude that southern Sweden has really had no winter at all – and that the prolonged autumn is starting to slide into spring with some spring wildflowers already popping into view.

The normal winter period ranging from December through February requires a number of days in a row with below-freezing temperatures - and this hasn’t happened.
