Sweden will hold the rotating European Union presidency for the second half of next year.

France takes over the post this July, and the prime ministers of the two countries agreed Tuesday that the battle against climate change should be a major priority.

Fredrik Reinfeldt also told the European Parliament that he wants to see the Swedish presidency work to build up the block’s international representation, through a network of EU ambassadors.

Asked when Sweden might join the European single currency, Reinfeldt said joining the euro might be relevant again if neighboring Denmark does so in a proposed referendum. Swedes rejected the single currency five years ago.
