Four Bristol students are to take part in this year’s World University Rowing Championships, and another has been chosen for the England Saxons rugby squad.
Mark Roberts, Matt Steeds, Peter Randolph and Sebastian Tjornelund have been selected to represent Great Britain in the World University Rowing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia on 4-7 September.
They are four of the total ten athletes to be selected from universities around the country as a result of their outstanding performance in various GB trials during the past four months. This is a tribute to the University’s excellent rowing programme, directed by High Performance Manager, Gordon Trevett, and run by dedicated coaches in the Centre for Sport, Exercise and Health.
Another University of Bristol student, Dave Attwood, has been chosen for the England Saxons squad. England Saxons is England’s men's second national rugby union team. This is an exceptional achievement, as the England Saxons normally only select full-time professional rugby players.
