Greenhouse Gases from Sea-Bed Farming

Swedish agriculture authorities are warning that Swedish farmers ploughing up fields which were earlier bogs or sea beds are releasing large amounts of greenhouse gases into the environment - without even knowing it.

The experts add that although such area is only 7% of the cultivated farm lands in Sweden, these account for as much released carbon dioxide, nitrogen and laughing gas as much as the rest of the cultivation – and that farming in these carbon-rich areas must be reduced.
