The opportunity to present this special concert has arisen from Wajahat Khan being in Scotland to perform with Scottish Opera as part of its Five:15 project, collaborating with writer Suhayl Saadi and co-composer, Nigel Osborne.

Ustad Wajahat Khan comes from an Indian musical dynasty which stretches back over 400 years to the Mughal courts of the 16th century. Son and nephew of the legendary Sitar players, Ustad Imrat and Ustad Vilayat Khan, he has performed to great acclaim in over 30 countries worldwide in prestigious venues and festivals including The Royal Albert Hall (BBC Proms), Glastonbury Festival and the Lincoln Centre, New York.

As a composer he has collaborated with numerous Western classical, jazz, flamenco and rock musicians and has created two unique Sarod Concertos and an award-winning Quintet for Sarod and String Quartet. He also teaches and lectures at educational institutes internationally. -- www.scottishopera.org.uk
