Firms as diverse as Bloomberg and Eddie Stobart are among 26 employers attending the first Management, Finance and Business Fair on Wednesday February 27th.

Organised by University of Leicester’s Careers Service and School of Management, with CIMA as patron, the fair is focussed on the financial and professional services sectors but covers diverse businesses including actuaries, logistics and food products.

Martin Pennington, Head of Careers Service, said ‘This new fair provides an opportunity to deepen the link between the University and several well-known employers, and to introduce new employers to the University and our students’.

With careers as actuaries, accountants, IT professionals and various management roles offered by the exhibiting employers, the fair will be of particular interest to students from the School of Management and the departments of Economics, Mathematics and Computer Science, but is open to all. Many employers recruit students of any subject to general management and specialist roles.

Chris Packham, Careers Adviser, recommends students look carefully at the employers and talk to them about the range of jobs they offer. ‘Don’t judge a company by its name or what you think they do. Most will offer jobs in specialist areas such as IT as well as general management roles, and many don’t mind what your degree subject is’.

The Management, Finance and Business Fair is on Wednesday February 27th at the Queen’s Hall, Percy Gee Building, from 11.00am-3.00pm. Academic staff are welcome to meet the employers over coffee between 10.00-11.00 at the same venue.
