Sarkozy's insult on Paris Agricultural Fair hits the internet

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is under fire, following a bad-tempered outbreak at an agricultural fair in Paris on Saturday. Mr Sarkozy insulted a man who refused to shake his hand.

Although the French head of state continued to smile as he spoke, that didn't prevent the insult being recorded loud and clear on film by a journalist from the daily paper La Parisien. The clip then appeared on the paper's website and was seen by an estimated 900,000 viewers within 24 hours. Sites such as YouTube are also circulating the clip.

The leader of the French socialists, François Hollande, called the incident unworthy of a president and said Mr Sarkozy should improve his behaviour.
