Germany to hand on tax evasion list

Germany says it is prepared to share information on tax evaders which has come to light via details of a bank in Liechtenstein. German media report that Scandinavian countries have already shown interest in the tax evasion list information. The Netherlands expects to receive a list of names of tax-evasion suspects from the same source.

A former employee of the Liechtenstein bank LGT Group earlier handed a CD-Rom over to the German intelligence service. It had details of more than 1,000 accounts of people suspected of tax evasion.

Germany is said to have paid the man over four million euros for the information. It led to moves including raids on premises used by the head of the German Post Office, Deutsche Post, Klaus Zumwinkel, who has since resigned.
