Putin is expected to introduce his likely successor, Dmitry Medvedev, to heads of former Soviet republics. Medvedev will deliver a report at the event. Russia is to hold presidential elections on March 2 and Medvedev is expected to win a landslide in the first round. The Presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Moldova, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Armenia are in Moscow for summit.
Economic cooperation, migration, transportation, and humanitarian cooperation are among the main items on the summit agenda.
Kocharian once again congratulated Mikhail Saakashvili on his reelection as the President of Georgia, according Armenian Presidential Spokesman Viktor Soghomonyan, who added, that the two leaders spent considerable time discussing issues of economic cooperation between Armenia, Russia and Georgia.
The two presidents also agreed that Georgian Prime Minister Lado Gugenidze will pay an official visit to Yerevan to discuss economic cooperation between the countries in greater detail.
