BalletMet Columbus announces audition dates for its professional company for the 2008-2009 season on March 1 and 9, 2008.

BalletMet is currently seeking male and female dancers to audition for professional company positions. The company offers a 36-week American Guild of Musical Artists contract with year round benefits. Trainee positions are also available.

Men 5-foot-8-inches tall and above and women up to 5-foot-7-inches tall who are interested in auditioning for BalletMet's company are asked to bring a resume and a dance photo. Ladies should wear pointe shoes. Auditions will consist of a short barre (be warm to begin), center work, repertoire and partnering.

"BalletMet's diverse repertoire requires that dancers have a strong classical technique coupled with a good aptitude for contemporary movement," said Artistic Director Gerard Charles. "Being an ensemble company, interested dancers must demonstrate the strength to be a soloist and also the willingness to fully participate in corps de ballet work."

Described by the New York Times as "mesmerizing," BalletMet Columbus ranks among the nation's 15 largest ballet companies and has earned critical acclaim regionally, nationally and abroad. Since its inception in 1978, BalletMet has added 134 company premieres to its repertoire and produced 111 world premieres. -- www.balletmet.org
