Emergency Situation Locks Down Ferrum College

Classes for Tuesday, February 26, 2008 have been cancelled at Ferrum College due to emergency situation in the college.

The alert information from the Ferrum College reads the following:

In the best interest of the Ferrum College students, faculty and staff, we have put the college into a lockdown as a result of a possible situation on campus. There have been no incidents or injuries. Authorities have been notified and are on campus and in control.

Continue to stay indoors. Authorities are following protocol. Everyone is safe.

As of 10:30 AM, campus is still on lockdown. Continue to stay indoors.

The lock down is ordered by the president of the college after receiving reports of a suspicious man on the campus.

Ferrum College is a private school is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, about 35 miles south of Roanoke.
