The concert, which was broadcast live in North and South Korea, began with the North Korean and US anthems and included music by Wagner, Dvorak and Gershwin. After several encores, the orchestra received a lengthy standing ovation.
The New York Philharmonic's concer in North Korea is seen a sign of improving relations between North Korea and the US, which are technically still at war since the Korean war in the early 1950s. Last year, North Korea pledged to end its controversial nuclear programme in return for international oil deliveries.
