Mozy’s backup software transfers encrypted files from each customer’s computer and stores them remotely so they can be easily retrieved. Files are stored securely and confidentially.

Students, faculty, and staff receive a 15 percent discount off MozyHome individual accounts. Vanderbilt departments receive 10 percent off MozyPro business accounts.

Users download Mozy software and set up a backup schedule. Mozy then runs unobtrusively in the background.

The MozyHome Vanderbilt discount requires a 1 or 2-year subscription. Students, faculty, and staff receive one month of service free with the one-year subscription or three months free with the two-year subscription. The total cost for backing up unlimited personal files is less than $50 a year or less than $90 for two years. A free version of MozyHome is also available, allowing Vanderbilt community members to back up 2 gigabytes (GBs) or less of data at no cost.

MozyPro is available to Vanderbilt departments for the after-discount cost of $3.56 per user license plus 45 cents per GB each month. MozyPro offers more features, including faster restores and around-the-clock phone support.

MozyHome is available for Windows and Mac. MozyPro is currently available only for Windows, but a Macintosh version is being developed. A fast, reliable Internet connection is required.

More than 500,000 people use Mozy to securely back up their computer files, including consumers, small businesses, universities, non-profit organizations, and large enterprises.
