DVD Players Feature 1080p Up-Conversion & Audio Remastering,Portable DVD Players Feature Larger Screen And Increased Battery Life
Panasonic Corporation of North America, the principal U.S. subsidiary of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., today previewed three DVD players, one stand alone and two portable players, with multi- disc and program-format compatibility, making them ideal for users who record their own discs on standalone DVD recorders in addition to watching commercially pre-recorded DVDs. The portable DVD players feature increased battery life and larger 8.5-inch screens.
The DVD-S53, an advanced progressive-scan home-theater DVD/CD player, incorporates 1080p digital video conversion via its HDMI output, proprietary EZ-Sync HDAVI technology for one-touch control of the player and Panasonic components, such as plasma HD televisions and home audio products. The player also incorporates multi-format playback.
"The rapid acceptance of big-screen high-definition televisions and the increase in true HD programming has sparked a burgeoning consumer demand for improved image and sound quality when watching standard video programs and listening to movie soundtracks or audio discs," said Panasonic DVD Marketing Manager Alberto Reggiani. "With the DVD-S53, Panasonic has combined state-of-the-art 1080p up-conversion and advanced audio technology to meet those demands by delivering near-HD quality from non-high-definition sources."
In addition to HDMI 1080p digital video conversion via HDMI, EZ-Sync, the DVD-S53 home player incorporates DVD-Video, DVD-R1 (inc. dual layer), DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, DVD+R (inc. dual layer), DVD+RW, CD, CD-DA, and MP32, WMA3, and JPEG CD-R/RW disc support, Dolby Digital and dts surround-sound decoding, four user-selectable picture modes, five-way image control, MPEG digital noise reduction, advanced surround sound, and auto/manual zoom.
Reggiani noted that the two new portable DVD players - the DVD-LS82 and the DVD-LS80 - were also designed to meet rising consumer expectations and to provide users with the benefits of a larger viewing screen and extended battery life.
"Customers have made it clear they want more than single or even double-feature viewing times when traveling on international flights or in-country flights that drag on and on because of intermediate stops," he said. "With this in mind, Panasonic engineers designed the DVD-LS82 to deliver a full 12 hours of movie viewing or music listening. The DVD-LS80 can play for 6 hours on a single charge. We are always listening to our customers and we have included a head-rest mounting bracket with the LS82, making it easy to have in car video entertainment."
Both 2007 portable DVD players feature a multi-angle 8.5-inch LCD widescreen with adjustable brightness levels for optimizing the image for individual user preference and varying ambient-light conditions. Other features common to both models include support for DVD Video, High Mat, DVD RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW and CD-R/RW discs, Dolby Digital and dts decoding, MPEG2 and MPEG 4 video codecs, JPEG still-image discs and MP3 and WMA audio discs. The LS80 ships with an AC adaptor, DC car adaptor, AV cord and battery pack. The LS 82 package also includes an automobile headrest mounting bracket for rear-seat viewing - Panasonic.
