The American Basketball Association announced that the league would return to Nashville, Tennessee next season.
According to Joe Newman, the CEO of American Basketball Association, "Nashville was a terrific ABA city; the former team, the Nashville Rhythm, was very successful; it had wonderful fan support. We have no doubt that it will be that way again under the leadership of Scott Lumley, one of the most interesting personalities ever in the league. We are very excited about this."
The name Scott Lumley is probably recognizable to anyone who follows the Rodeo circuit or horses as Scott was the former #1 All Pro Rider in the World and the #6 NRS Rider. In 2001, 2002, 2003 he was the NRS Top Rider prior to retiring from the rodeo. Scott is an expert on penning horses and has produced the well-known "Secrets of the Pros" video.
Since retirement, he has developed several successful businesses including BidFlame, one of America's Leading on-line stores and auctions -- an incredible source for electronics, cars, apparel, collections, sporting goods, jewelry and other items online at www.bidflame.com.
"I've been a great fan of basketball and have wanted to own a professional basketball team. The American Basketball Association is perfect," said Lumley. "I have no doubt that we will put together a tremendous operation and a very competitive team. I am a very competitive person and have a lot of broken bones and scars from my rodeo days to prove it. This is another challenge that I am looking forward to accepting. Our first order of business is to find a GM and Coach - and we are starting the search right now."
