Organised as part of National Science and Engineering Week, the show Flash Bang Wallop has been arranged by the School of Chemistry, and will reveal some of the secrets behind chemical reactions.
As well as showcasing the more spectacular chemical reactions involving heat, light and sound, the event will also demonstrate how chemistry can help tackle some of the problems of the modern world.
Innovation and Engagement co-ordinator at the School of Chemistry, Peter Hollamby said: “This is an exciting show that promises to blow the lid off Chemistry’s dusty image. It will educate and enthuse people about chemistry in an entertaining and accessible way.”
Flash Bang Wallop is one of a number of events organised by the University to celebrate National Science and Engineering Week (7-16 March). During the course of the week a series of lectures, workshops and interactive events will bring science and engineering to the public on topics ranging from neuroscience to geology and quantum physics.
The University has also planned a series of events for Brain Awareness Week (10-16 March) and the Festival of Social Science (7-16 March).
