The members of Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s election office started to conduct the rally. In answer to the demand of several tens of thousands of citizens to go and release Levon Ter-Petrosyan who is under house arrest, Aram Zaven Sargsyan said they will go to Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s house when he invites them, not as unbidden guests. For the time being, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, according to Aram Zaven Sargsyan, has requested people to remain in front of the statue of Miasnikyan and wait until he comes and stands on the stage. Levon Ter-Petrosyan also requested everyone not to take any initiative.
Hrant Bagratyan and Aram Manukyan addressed the rally who were arrested in the morning and released in the afternoon. Hrant Bagratyan said the government has lost the feeling of reality and does not realize what country it is ruling. Hrant Bagratyan denied the information that he was beaten at the police station. Hrant Bagratyan said after he and Aram Manukyan had been released they met with the EU ambassadors at the German embassy. The representative of Peter Semneby and the representative of the UN Armenia office were also there. Hrant Bagratyan says they told the ambassadors the truth about what has taken place, that the peaceful protestors were not armed with grenades or other weapon, as the government claims.
Hrant Bagratyan says the ambassadors were troubled by the situation and said further escalation of tensions and use of violence is inadmissible. The ambassadors said the Council of Europe is preparing a letter to the Armenian government and request not to use force. Hrant Bagratyan said the EU ambassadors are worried because they have information that there is an order on armed operation of the army.
Therefore, Aram Manukyan and Hrant Bagratyan demanded that the EU ambassadors make every effort to prevent the Armenian government from use of force, and to enable Levon Ter-Petrosyan to leave his house.
