President of Armenia Declares State of Emergency

The press office of the president of Armenia reports that on March 1 Robert Kocharyan signed a decree declaring a state of emergency in Yerevan for 20 days.

A state of emergency in Yerevan, Armenia involves prohibition of meetings, rallies, demonstrations, marches, strikes, restriction of movement and check of people and vehicles by the law-enforcement bodies in case of necessity, information on national and home political issues in the media is confined to official releases of government agencies, prohibition of fliers and other means of propaganda, expulsion of people who violate the legal regime of the national emergency and who are not residents of the given area, informs the press release of the press office of the president administration.
