American Ballet Theatre II, Next Reflex Collective To Perform at American Dance Institute

ABT II is comprised of 13 outstanding young dancers and prepares them for entrance into ABT or other leading professional companies. They are hand-picked from around the world by ABT’s artistic staff. Once in the company, the dancers learn and perform repertory pieces created by young choreographers, who are selected to create works specifically for ABT II. Their performances at American Dance Institute will include a premier of a new Aszure Barton work, Cake, Allegro Brillante and the Don Quixote Pas de Deux. Tickets for the performances are priced at $20 for adults and $10 for students with valid ID, seniors, children and those with a DC dance pass.

DC area pre-professional high school and college students, training in ballet at an intermediate/advanced level, will also have an exciting and unique opportunity to learn from ABT II’s artistic staff, at a master class on Sunday, April 20th at 11 a.m. at American Dance Institute. Cost for the Master class is $25.

Additionally, American Dance Institute will showcase Next Reflex Dance Collective, a new DC-based, modern-dance company and the most recent addition to ADI’s Arts Incubator program. On Saturday, April 12th at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 13th at 7 p.m., Next Reflex Dance Collective will perform Conversations, a new 2008 premier, which was inspired by a variety of human interactions at Burke Lake Park in Virginia last fall. Conversations is choreographers Erika Schonemann and Roxann Morgan Rowley’s most adventurous collaboration of the year. Tickets for the Next Reflex Dance Collective performances are priced at $20 for adults and $15 for students with valid ID, seniors, children and those with a DC dance pass.
