
The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority says European regulators need to pay higher salaries if they hope to attract staff with the necessary expertise.
Ingrid Bonde, the head of Sweden’s top financial watchdog, points to the recent banking scandal in France, saying that markets are changing so quickly it is vital that regulators have staff who understand the complexities involved.
This, she tells the Reuters news agency, means paying salaries that can compete with those in the market.
