A call for action from World Glaucoma Association WGA and World Glaucoma Patient Association WGPA was not taken lightly by BiCOM Inc., a global distributor of Diaton tonometer (non-invasive tonometry through eyelid). BiCOM has advised and guided all of its distributors located in over 30 countries in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Middle East - to participate on March 6th World Glaucoma Day by either Screening or Awareness campaigns.

BiCOM, a New York based company, in conjunction with NYC Department of Transportation DOT to set up Awareness and Screening Event at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal - over 65,000 people travel by this ferry daily. Event is scheduled to be covered by local TV, radio and print media.

Glaucoma Awareness Materials will be handed out in Time Square, NYC as well as a Bike Taxi with a large World Glaucoma Day sign will be strolling the streets as a reminder.

Recently, Mayor Michael Bloomberg has joint the awareness campaign and has declared March 6, 2008 World Glaucoma Day in New York City.

Woopi Goldberg has made great comments about BiCOMs initiatives and WGD on her morning TV program.

Roman Iospa, CEO of BiCOM had interviewed Mr. Eric “Ricky” McKinnie Drummer/vocalist and tour manager for the world-renowned, four -time Grammy winners, The Blind Boys of Alabama. www.rickymckinnie.com In 1975,Ricky lost his sight due to glaucoma. While most would believe, after being diagnosed with such a painstaking disability, it would be the end of road; he continued to excel far beyond his own imagination.

Eric “Ricky” McKinnie in an interview stated: “Glaucoma is like high blood pressure & diabetes – you have to check your eye pressure regularly so that your sight doesn’t close on you…” Ricky added: “Remember, every time that you see a rainbow – it doesn’t mean its gold, because a rainbow can mean Glaucoma.”

BiCOM Team has contacted most of eye care professionals by phone in NYC and beyond - requesting them to participate and most of them have agreed to screen in the name of WGD on March 6th.

Mr. Boris Kun, President of BiCOM has been diagnosed with glaucoma and he has a personal grudge against this disease....

BiCOM, with an introduction of its unique Diaton Tonometer which measures intra-ocular pressure through the eyelid without the use of anesthesia, a perfect screening device for children and adults – plans to continue free screening and awareness events to organizations beyond World Glaucoma Day.

On March 6th BiCOM estimates that its awareness campaign will reach 2,000,000 eyes.
