And, thanks to the breathtaking choreography of Spain's acclaimed Rafael Amargo, you can also look forward to experiencing some of the most exciting flamenco ever seen in British theatre.
Combining the passion, drama and romance from the original Zorro stories with the pulsating Latin American rhythms of the Gipsy Kings, Zorro promises an evening of highly charged, swashbuckling entertainment.
Directed by Christopher Renshaw, whose recent UK and Broadway credits include The King and I and We Will Rock You, ZORRO features the choreography of internationally renowned flamenco dancer Rafael Amargo.
Enjoying movie star status in Europe, Rafael is a regular face on glossy magazine covers throughout the continent, and has been photographed by Bruce Weber, Annie Leibovitz and Christopher Makos. Whilst he adheres to the purest flamenco style Rafael has assimilated other types of dance, influenced by his studies at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in New York. The Spanish artists Luis Gordillo and Esperanza D´Ors have supported his career and he has won four Max Awards (the most important performing arts awards in Spain), three as Best Dancer and one for the Best Dance Show of the year.
ZORRO is produced by New York Times-best selling author Isabel Allende who has sold more than 52 million novels in 30 languages. Born in Chile in 1942, Isabel began her career as a journalist and television presenter in Chile and Venezuela Isabel's 2005 bestseller ZORRO: A Novel is the classic tale of the origins of the ZORRO legend and reveals how the young Diego de la Vega became ZORRO. -- www.the-mayflower.com
