SPRUNG!, a show celebrating the diversity of dance, will take place at Queens’ College today and tomorrow.
Queens’ College Contemporary Dance Society’s annual show presents dance pieces from students and professional choreographers. The performances vary from break dancing to neo-classical and contemporary dance and will be performed with a wide range of musical styles. The music for several pieces will be played live.
SPRUNG! is a non-auditioned open platform for dancers and choreographers from both within and outside the University to showcase their work. This is the ninth year Queens’ College Cotemporary Dance Society has organised the SPRUNG! show.
Queens’ College has supported dance as an art form by holding a post for a Dancer-in-Residence for past eleven years. The post is currently filled by Adèle Thompson, who is a professional choreographer and dancer working in theatre, television and film. She is also a former member of famous company STOMP.
SPRUNG! 2008 will be staged on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 March in the Fitzpatrick Hall, Queens’ College. The show starts at 8 pm and is open to all. Tickets, £3 for students and £4 other, can be purchased from Julia Hawkins (jeh68@cam.ac.uk).
