McCallum Theatre Presents 'That's Italian'

With Frankie Randall, Julius LaRosa, Pete Barbutti, and Dick Contino on the same stage - "That's Italian!" Join these legendary entertainers at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, California, on Monday, March 17, at 8:00pm, for an evening of Italian song and comedy.

Frankie Randall began life as Frank Lisbona. After college, he was working in New York where he caught the attention of Frank Sinatra which led to a recording contract with RCA Victor Records. His seven albums and countless singles were hits with both disc jockeys and fans. Turning to film and television, Frankie appeared in the movie Wild On the Beach, and he went on to become a regular on television and variety shows. The multi-talented Frankie Randall continues to perform and record.

Julius LaRosa, an assured and distinctive singer, got his first big break on The Arthur Godfrey Show, and his first release "Anywhere I Wander" went straight into the Top 30. His release of "Eh, Cumpari" reached #2 and earned Julius both awards and acclaim. His next release "Domani" was followed by a string of hits. He has appeared on the theatre stage and is an accomplished television actor, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination for his role on Another World.

Pete Barbutti began taking accordion lessons at age 11, and in high school, was playing with the Scranton Philharmonic Orchestra and operating two accordion schools. After the Army, Pete formed his own group, The Millionaires, which toured the country for six years. Striking out on his own, Pete became a regular on Steve Allen's and Garry Moore's TV shows, and toured with Nat King Cole. He calls Las Vegas home where he conducts comedy workshops and seminars.

Dick Contino grew up in Fresno where he was discovered by Horace Heidt for his new show "Original Youth Opportunity Program." Dick's rendition of "Lady of Spain" on the initial broadcast sent the bobby-sox audience into a frenzy and he won $250 and further appearances on the show, ultimately winning first prize. Dick became a permanent member of the Musical Knights and toured coast-to-coast and went on to become the most famous accordion player in history.
