YouTube Update APIs

YouTube today announced extending of its APIs allowing more direct access to the service. The company also announced that TiVo users will be able to access YouTube videos directly through their devices somewhere later this year.

YouTube released a new set of application programming interfaces, APIs, to help programmers create applications that perform functions normally executed on YouTube. Latest API offerings allow anyone building a website or software application that is connected to the Internet to upload videos straight to YouTube, let users comment, rate and favorite the videos and customize and control of the Flash player in which the videos are played.

All of those new options of YouTube APIs and Tools are free to use giving the users ways to improve their world of video and extend its participation in YouTube community.

Developers also can improve the user experience on their site, gain visibility and traffic with adding UGC (User Generated Content) capabilities.

YouTube has also updated its Java and PHP client libraries, developer guides, and terms of service.

With those new improvements companies are able to create value-added services using YouTube as a platform. For example Electronic Arts upcoming video game Spore, will include the ability to create videos from game play and to upload them from the game to YouTube.
