Hackers broke iPhone firmware and 2.0 software

Hacker team known as iPhone Dev Team has reported that they have breaked latest iPhone firmware upgrade that ships with the recently launched software development kit for the smartphone. Also hacker group claim to have already figured out a way to jailbreak Apple's iPhone 2.0 software.

The iPhone Dev Team said yesterday they have figured out a way to hack into the iPhone decrypting the disk image and jail-broke the firmware. After some modifications, this allows any code to be written to the iPhone, such as applications that haven't been authorized by Apple, and it should work with any new software version Apple releases, according to the team.

If those claims are true, those hacking actions raise a question whether Apple will be able to maintain the strong control it wants on iPhone application development. Apple is requiring independent software developers to submit their work to Apple, which will be the exclusive distributor through the company's new online App Store. Developers can set their own price for the software, but Apple takes 30% of sales revenues.

Even that Apple has released the SDK that developers can test in its beta phase, it is obvious that hacking will continue as long as the company maintains politics of one-carrier, one-country and while Apple chooses not to support number of third-party applications already available worldwide.
